Christmas Cards Featuring Reggie & Rory

I hope your not getting tired of Christmas cards yet!  Two more have joined the Christmas card parade.

Once again I am using digital stamps by Heather Valentin.  You can find her stamps along with some awesome colouring books at Lacy Sunshine Stamps.

Watch out!  Here comes Reggie's Winter Sled.

Paper, ribbon and pearl embellishment are from my stash. Snowflake die: Giovanna Snowflake. Digital stamp coloured with Copic Markers.  I used Stampendous Winter Wonderland embossing powder to create snow and add dimension.  Crystal Stickles lend sparkle to the snow and background.  Sentiment was stamped with a clear stamp and Memento black ink.

Rory is ready to do some decorating!  This is Rory's Decorations.

Standing Under the Mistletoe

I don't know anyone that doesn't like to receive Christmas cards. Do you?

With that in mind I am still in full card making mode.  I try to make all my Christmas cards but unfortunately fall short at times.  I really must start earlier.

Today's card is using a digital stamp from the talented artist Heather Valentin.  I was lucky to have been a past design team member at Lacy Sunshine and have a soft spot for her images.

Let's Start The Christmas Card Parade

Are you making your Christmas cards this year?  I have been making mine for a few years now. Some are whimsical, some are cute and sometimes a few traditional ones join the mix.

I use digital images from a variety of talented artists and the ones I have used for these cards can be found over at Mo's Digital Pencil.

Let the Christmas card parade begin!

Sunset Limbo - Birthday Card

Hi Everyone!

Today's share is a card I am calling Sunset Limbo, made for my son's birthday.

He wanted everything to be low key despite it being a milestone 21st birthday.

I think the pub get-to-together the night before may of had something to do with that .. lol.

His dinner of choice, pizza, at home, no fuss.  Yes, we did have presents, cake, candles and singing.

I wish him many future sunset limbos, fun and good times as an ADULT.

The digital image Boozy Brian Limbo Gnome Fun is coloured with Copic markers and can be found at Lacy Sunshine. All papers and embellishments are from my stash.

Flowers, Feathers & Pink Butterflies

Happy Tuesday!

Today I am sharing a card made in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month which means Pink is the theme.  For this card I used Floral Masquerade from Aurora Wings.  So much fun to colour all the flowers here.

Floral Masquerade was coloured with copic markers and cut out using the largest of the spellbinder Triple Tear die set and my Sizzix Big Kick.  I am on a "use up scrap paper mission" so the papers used are from my scrap stash.  I distressed the paper edges to soften the overall look of the card.  The embellishments are also from my stash.  The lace came from Michael's and the whimsical feathers came from the dollar store, I think.  Why the feathers ... they made me smile!

You will find a list of the copic markers I used at the bottom of this post.

After colouring Broomkin Troll with copic markers I spied some Halloween paper in my stash box along with some black webbing (?) and purple flowers ... Ta Da!  A Halloween card was just a few waiting to be created.

Cute Fireman Alert!

Now how cute is this image!   Coloured following the online monthly colouring class from Kit and Clowder.  For the most part, the colours I used are the ones Alyce suggested in class. I did have to sub out a few of the reds.  Can't wait to see what she has in store for us next class!

Here is Fireman Luka from La-La Land Crafts merged with a background created for the Kit and Clowder September class coloured with copic markers.

Dart Theme Birthday Card

No flowers!  No bows and lace!  It is so hard to make cards for men!

That being said sometimes a card comes together with the help of the perfect image, a bit of creativity and holding your tongue the right way, lol.

My hubby plays darts in a dart league, yes ... there is such a thing!  I wanted to have a "darts theme" on his birthday card and found the perfect image at Lacy Sunshine Stamps.

After colouring Tipsy Timmy with copics it was time to create a "dart" type background.  Using papers from my stash box, I created a pub style background and added Timmy with dimensional dots. Hubby loved it!

The dart board was from a picture I had, resized, printed and cut using a circle die and the Big Kick.

This card did make an appearance on the Colours n Cards Facebook page but somehow missed being blogged about.

Kick Up Your Heels & Celebrate!

Finally I have a card to share! This card was made for my Dad's birthday.  When it comes to cards for Dad I am always looking for images that are different and quirky. Something that will make him smile.

Bloobel Stamps to the rescue!  If your looking for something different check out this digital stamp line.  The image used on this card is Moustache Ballerina and he was coloured with Copic markers.  I kept the card simple so the image would take center stage among the stars.

Glitter was added to the stars using Crystal Stickles and the edges were distressed with my Heidi Swapp Edge Distresser.

Recent Colourings

Hi all.  I seem to be posting more on the Colours n Cards Facebook page than on the blog these days.

Why?  Well .. I had full intentions of making cards with my recent colourings and posting the cards on the blog but I haven't been "card making" motivated lately.  I prefer to wait until, dare I say .. the crafty planets line up and everything seems to flow from start to finish!   Do you ever feel like that?

In the mean time, I will continue colouring and adding to my "ready to card" pile while I wait for some card making mojo to return.

I was going to add all the colourings to this post but in order to keep it short lets just showcase one artist tonight. I have coloured more than I thought :)

Here are a few coloured digi's from Lacy Sunshine Stamps by Heather Valentin.  If you follow me on Facebook this will be a  deja vu experience for you.

Fantasy Colouring - Dragon Orb

Hi all!  I seem to be on a colouring roll lately.

Today I am sharing Dragon Orb by Molly Harrison Art from the February clouring class at Kit and Clowder.  I've had the image printed for quite awhile but for some reason never got around to colouring it.

How fun are those dragon wings!!

I loved doing this background technique.  Amazing what you can do with 2 Copic refills, a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

My colours of choice for the background were G21 and BV01 because those were the refills I had that seemed to suit the coloured image. Stars were added with white pen. Coloured with Copic markers.

Garden Marci

Today I am popping in to share my version of the August marker class at Kit and Clowder.  If your looking for a reasonably priced class where you can learn new techniques every month and finish a whole project I suggest you check out Alyce's classes. They are easy to follow with both written and video instructions.

This months class used images from La La Land Crafts.  This image called Garden Marci.  I have coloured the barnyard scene with Copic markers and staged the "photo shoot" outside in my garden, which is 2 tomato plants ... lol.

coloured garden marci on colours n cards blog

The sky was intentionally left streaky to blend in with a flaw in the paper that didn't take the colour well.  What I thought was a small flaw was in more than one spot but it all worked out in the end.

Seeanna Mermaid

Whew .... it has been hot outside these past few days!  I have taken over the kitchen table to colour as my upstairs craft room was to warm this weekend. At one point I think it hit 30c!!

Since I wasn't in a position to hit the lake or go swimming I decided to get out my copics and colour a "cool" water scene instead.

What's more perfect for a water scene than a mermaid digi!  I have used Seeanna Mermaid by Amanda Byron to frolic in the ocean today.  You can find more of her digi's over at Farey Ink.

mermaid colouring on colours n cards

Using some techniques from Kit and Clowder July 2015 Create and Learn class I created this cool ocean background.  I don't have the copic colours I used handy but I can tell you they were similar to the class ones.

I have entered her in the Faery Ink Coloring Challenge on the Markers! Papers! Digis! facebook page.

VaVa Voom!

Hi! Today I am sharing a recently completed "dude" card. I made this card for my middle son's birthday.  In the past couple of years he has been bitten by the racing bug and drives a truck in the "crash to pass" races.

After some Googling I found the perfect images at Kenny K Stamps. Merging these two digi's, Cool Trucker and Honey Sparks together created the perfect image for his card.

Seeing this was cartoonish .. is that even a word, I kept the card bright and minimal. You may not be able to tell from the photograph but I did get some sparkle in using black glitter tape on  two corners and glitter around the "silver" cup.  I know it looks black but it is silver.

Sharing a couple of cuties today.

Hi all.  Popping in today to share two recent copic colourings.  Both of the shares today were freebies from two of the many sponsors of the Kit and Clowder 10,000 party.

Up first is Fairy Swing from All Dressed Up Stamps.  Isn't she sweet?

This next coloured digi is from East Wind Digi Stamps.  Super Chunky was a bit of a challenge for me.  Like I know how to colour a cat!

Well .. on came the big girl panties and out came the Copics!  Yes there is room for improvement but one has to start to improve!! Right!

Colouring Crystals

Hi everyone!  It has been forever since I last posted.  Summer days find me hanging outside more and inside colouring less.  As most of you know I am a huge fan of Kit & Clowder and have been taking the online monthly class since ...well, forever.  The beauty of these classes are you end up with a finished project/image and you can do them whenever, no time limit!

Today I am sharing my progress with the July class using the beautiful digi Crystal by Lineartsy .  First impression seeing this image so beautifully coloured by Alyce ... you got to be kidding!!  I am never going to be able to do that!

I purchased, sized and printed Crystal, printed out the class, organized my copics then proceeded to find every excuse not to sit down and start colouring!  Maybe I will just read some of the class instructions, after all I wanted to know how to colour crystals.

That was all it took!  Following Alyce's instructions and working in sections ... Hey, I can do a section ... helped me to finish this beautiful image.

Father's Day Card

Hi Everyone. Today I am sharing a Father's day card I made up using one of the unique and quirky stamps from Bloobel Stamps. This stamp is called Bookworm Bob and I am sure he is going to bring a smile to my Dad's face when he receives this card.

After colouring up Bookworm Bob with my copic markers I decided the image looked a little bare and added in the background.  For me adding a background is much easier  than fussy cutting around an image.  I have ruined more than one colouring fussy cutting!!

The card was created using papers and embellishments from my stash of supplies.

Holy Smokes! Valcanoes, Cute Kids & a Dinosaur!!!

Hi Everyone!

I know it has been a while since I have posted  ... along with the sunny weather arriving so have the outside chores!

Between washing the deck and playing in the dirt with bedding plants I did find time to finish the April Create and Learn Class by Kit and Clowder.

Today we are heading back in time to the land of dinosaurs and smokey volcanoes.

The cute image used for this class is called Best Friends Dinosaur by Polkadoodles.  Usually I draw in the background following Alyce's instructions but this time around I took the quicker option and used the digi and background combo.  All colouring was done with Copic markers.

In these 2 WIP images things were coming together nicely, in the beginning .....

Dinosaur scene background colouring in progress Colours and CardsDinosaur scene background near completion - Colours and Cards

Then ..... colouring turned into a challenge!  I was experiencing the frustration of multiple markers going dry.  Of course it was ones I wanted to use and had no refills for!  And if that wasn't frustrating enough I was having to change colours, in the middle of colouring!!  Needless to say the image turned out a bit different than expected but all in all it seems to have worked out.

Colouring Hydrangeas with Kit & Clowder

Happy Saturday everyone!  I just realized I forgot to put the hydrangeas I coloured from the Kit & Clowder Elements of Nature Class on the blog.  If you follow my blog you know I am taking a few of Alyce's classes.

They were posted on the facebook page but not the blog... my bad.  I have coloured these with my favourite markers, Copics, following Alyce's lesson.

I think a touch  of pink might be nice next but I do like the finished results.  What do you think?

Here is a look at the WIP ... flowers are coloured, time to start on the pot.

... and here is the finished colouring.

Lil Hot Mama Scootabug Card

Today is my day to post for Lacy Sunshine using Lil Hot Mama Scootabug by artist Heather Valentin.  What a fun digi stamp this is!

I also used the Gnome house from the Digi bits sheet, found under the Gnomes of Willow Pines  line for this card.

I must admit to taking a creative twist with theses two images by merging the two together and creating this scene.  I coloured everything with copics, added the googly eyes and  a bow to the caterpillar.  In my stash of "interesting stuff to use on day" were some lightly shaded plastic dots that fit perfectly in Mama's glasses. White highlights were added with a gel pen.

Sweet Flower Gnome Card

Hi everyone!  Today I am sharing a card made using Sweet Flower Gnome by artist Heather Valentin.

I pictured her in a meadow type setting surrounded by flowers and grass rather than a cultured garden.  All colouring was done with copic markers with the exception of the small white accent dots in the grass.  Those were done with white pen.  Stickles glitter was added to the butterfly on the flower she is holding.  Copic colours used can be found at the bottom of this post.
